Fresh air and efficient protection against mosquitoes

All caravanners know how important it is when using an awning to have good ventilation in order to maintain fresh air indoors. Awnings have become more airtight, and this means that ventilation is of utmost importance.

That is why Europe’s leading awning manufacturer, the Danish company Isabella, has developed a new, advanced ventilation system, which has been built into two of the company’s new models, namely the Ambassador Alpha and the very spacious Commodore Alpha, which is three metres deep.

The system comprises two ventilation panels in the front and a large mosquito net window in the right side.

The two ventilation panels in the front run from the roof and down to the base of the awning. Over the mosquito net there is an ordinary canvas that can be zipped fully or partly down.

The two panels are placed under the roof canopy of the awning, which means that the top part can be left open even if it is raining.

The ventilation panels and the mosquito net window in the right side can be opened fully or partly, depending on the need for ventilation. If more ventilation is called for, such as constant airing, then the wheel arch cover of the caravan can be loosened.

New caravanners are not always aware of the need for ventilation. The great temperature fluctuations experienced in our latitudes often cause condensation. With the new types of canvas,

problems with condensation have to a great extent been eliminated, but it is still important to be able to create sufficient ventilation without having to keep the tent doors open all the time.

But the ventilation systems also have another and very important function and that is to protect against insects. A pleasant summer evening can easily be spoiled by buzzing and biting mosquitoes. Thanks to the ventilation system and the mosquito net one can be inside the awning and still enjoy the surrounding area.
