New winter awning from Danish Isabella factory
The ever-growing interest in winter camping which has been experienced right across Europe has led to an increase in demand for equipment designed to withstand the demands imposed by the weather during the coldest period of the year. This is one of the reasons that Europe’s largest specialist awnings manufacturer, the Danish Isabella factory in Vejle, has refined its most popular winter awning, the Snowboy, and produced a slightly larger version which has been named the Snowboy Lux.
The footprint of the Lux model is 180 cm x 240 cm, which means that it can be used not only as a winter conservatory but also as a combined storage room and entrance hall. The standard Snowboy Lux model is an extremely stable winter awning that has proved its worth under extreme weather conditions.
Those who go camping when the weather is at its worst, may also wish to acquire the winter securing kit - an extra strong pole system and special pegs, are available as accessories. This kit comprises of additional cross pole in the roof and a support pole at the front. The Snowboy awnings from Isabella already feature a special shape in the roof that allows rain and snow to slide off easily.
When camping in frosty weather, we recommend our strong Tarzan pegs, which are suitable for use even in frozen soil. Alternately, storm pegs may be required if the ground is particularly soft.
The Snowboy Lux is a suitable fit for almost all caravans since the winter awning attaches to the caravan only at the roof. It is fitted against the sides of the caravan by means of heavy-duty foam pads, vertical support poles on both sides and a special click profile system which ensures a tight fit between the awning and the caravan.
There are doors in both sides which may be opened both from the top and the bottom, which is a great advantage if snow has settled against the sides of the awning.
Even if the wind is blowing at the guy ropes and the snow is falling heavily outside, it is possible to use the Snowboy as a porch provided it is fitted with suitable flooring to provide insulation against rising cold and damp. A reliable source of heat is also necessary, along with a thermo inner roof designed to reduce condensation. The latter is available as an optional accessory.
