Isabella, the Danish awning manufacturer, produces winter awnings that can withstand stormy weather and heavy snow. Production of one of the company’s well-known winter awnings, Snowboy, is based on many years’ of development, practical experience and testing.
The secret behind the sturdy awning is first and foremost a solid, state-of-the-art pole construction with two ridge poles and a cross pole fitted where the roof construction bends.
The strong Zinox steel frame is furthermore equipped with support poles with foam rubber pads that are pressed against the side of the caravan to protect against draught. The bend in the roof construction means that the door of the caravan can be opened without touching the canvas and more importantly, heavy snow masses can slide off instead of remaining on the top of the awning.
The awning is made of a very strong polyester/PVC canvas that cleans easily and dries quickly.
There is a door in each side, which gives a choice of entrance depending on wind conditions. The doors are placed slightly towards the front of the awning so as not to collide with the door of the caravan. On the outside around the bottom of the Snowboy awning there is a wide draught skirt, which together with adjustable pegs protects against winds and drift snow.
Condensation is something that all caravanners know about, and that is why the Snowboy awning is well ventilated by means of for instance a zip and a mosquito net in the left side. For winter caravanning an inner thermo-roof is ideal for collecting condensation.
