State-of-the-art conservatory for caravans

Since most caravanners prefer to spend their days and evenings in their caravan awning, it is hardly surprising that awnings are increasingly being designed to provide many of the advantages offered by a real conservatory, the “outdoor” room of the house.

In many ways, the Danish Isabella factory’s new state-of-the-art anniversary model, the Vision, breaks with conventional ideas of what an awning should look like. At the same time, there is little doubt that the Vision confirms the company’s position as the leading manufacturer of awnings in Europe.

Inside and out, the Vision has the feel of a real conservatory. This applies to its design and function, as well as the extraordinary amount of space it offers. The sense of spaciousness comes from the three-metre deep awning which combines with the Vision’s stunning one-metre wide covered terrace to produce an awning which is actually four metres deep.

The covered terrace provides protection against sun, wind and rain since removable panels may be added on both sides. The roof of the terrace incorporates a series of elegant light panels made of sun-reflecting foil which filters the incoming sunlight.

The roof also incorporates a special gutter system designed to deal with showers and light rain. Water is led via a rain groove in the outermost edge of the canopy to a small funnel, through a pipe and along a typhoon guy rope away from the awning.

The conservatory ‘feel’ is emphasised by the large windows, particularly those at the front of the awning. These have been divided into square panels. The centre panel in both fronts may be removed and replaced by a mosquito net panel which is easy enough to look through from the inside, but makes it hard to see in from the outside.

Further ventilation is provided by the special ventilation net openings in both sides, which are covered and may be left open even when it rains.

A innovative system of blinds provides a change from the traditional awning curtains. The blinds may be raised and lowered individually, covering all or part of the windows depending on needs and conditions, and add to the conservatory feel of the awning.

The Vision features a selection of welcoming and warm colours inspired by the latest interior design.

The very light CarbonX reinforced fibreglass pole system with the new Isafix locking clamp is supplied as standard with the Vision and the 2.5metre Jubilee awning, the Opus. The Isafix locking clamp is expected to be available as an optional extra with Isabella’s other models at a later time.

Caravanners who need even more space may want to add the optional annexes available for both sides. Other optional equipment include a room divider designed to transform half the awning into a sun canopy, and the Crystal Windscreen in matching colours and with a CarbonX frame for easy transportation.
