Problemsolving

Problem

Possible cause

What can be done/What could have been done:

Leaks

Bad maintenance. Settlement of salt from sea breezes on the canvas, contamination from polluted air, pollen etc. Aerosol propellant such as fly/mosquito spray, deodorant...

The awning is sprayed with plenty of pure water and the dirt is brushed off with a soft brush. DETERGENTS OR CLEANING AGENTS MUST NOT BE USED! Afterwards; when completely dry, the canvas is sprayed with AquaTex impregnator.

Condensation

Too little ventilation

Open all ventilation.

Moisture from the ground

Put a plastic cover underneath the awning carpet.

The zip will not close

The awning is wrongly erected

Move the corner pegs.

The zip is worn or the stop end is worn

Contact your Isabella Dealer.

Frame corrosion

Bad maintenance

The frame is cleaned from earth and dirt and is treated with car wax on the surface.

Packed away in a damp condition

The frame must be completely dry before it is packed away.

The awning is damp-stained

Was wet when packed away and not hung up to dry within 2/3 days

The canvas must be completely dry before it is packed away. The storage place should be dry, well ventilated, and have an even temperature i.e. not too hot and not too cold.

Gathers in the front edge between roof and canopy

Bad tensioning

If possible, the front is rolled down and the poles tensioned (maybe with Hercules). Check that the seams are taut.

The sides are very slack

- The awning is tensioned badly, or
- the awning is too big, or
- the caravan is placed wrongly (too low)

Tensioning of all poles. Pegging, so that the lower panel is tensioned. Check that the distance from the lower panel of the awning to the ground is at least 12 cm, so that the pull of the rubbers is used to full effect.

The sides do not reach the ground

- The caravan is raised too much, or

Place the caravan on even ground without lifting it unnecessarily.

- the awning is too small for the caravan

Check the A-measurement of the caravan and the awning.

White spots on the PVC-material

- Weather/air influence

Check it yourself in a magnifying glass. It is probably eggs from insects, which are easily removed by means of Aqua- Tex impregnator spray, a small nail brush and a soft cloth.

Light spots in the roof

- Wear and tear, or

Can be small wear marks in the outside coating. Normally this does not affect the performance or durability of the roof. May be repaired with repair paste (applied externally).

- mould/damp-stains

For mould and damp-stains we recommend internal spraying with water and re-impregnation with AquaTex or, in very bad cases, changing the roof.

Marks on windows. Cloudy windows

- untidy folding up, or
- bad tensioning

Good tensioning and heat will help to diminish the marks. With present technology, deeper marks cannot be avoided.
