Assembly - helpful hints for careful caravanners
Lay a waterproof plastic underlay on the ground to prevent humidity penetrating your carpet and creating condensation in the awning. To protect poles and canvas, spread your carpet (optional extra) on the underlay. The caravan channel should be checked for rough edges and burrs as these can damage the awning or make it difficult to pull the awning through. To prevent them being overloaded by the weight of the canvas during erection, the E-poles should be slackened. ill. b.
To assist tensioning, the panels should be unzipped as shown in ill. c. Do not peg the canvas until the canvas is fully tensioned. 1. Zip in all panels before pegging. 2. Level the interior gusset with the ground. 3. Peg corners nearest caravan. Peg interior gusset. 4. Tension and peg one side at the corner leg. 5. Repeat on the other side. To tension front and sides, pull out and peg at the last corner. ill. e.
6. Cross the rubber rings at all zip ends and peg so that they are protected by the canvas. ill. f.
7. Maximising the pull of the rubber rings, peg the rest of the canvas. To protect the stitching, the canvas should be approx. 10 cm. above the ground. The height is adjusted by use of the regulator tab. ill. d.
Extra support can be afforded by fixing guy ropes to the frame inside the awning.
