King-size awning for touring and non-touring
The rapidly growing interest in camping life – not only in Portugal, but throughout Europe – has led to the need for larger and more flexible awnings. Several years ago, Isabella, the Danish awning manufacturer, predicted this need and thus embarked upon on large-scale development work. In 2004, Forum, the king-size awning, saw the light of day, and it was subsequently put to the test. The result exceeded the most sanguine expectations, and Isabella was far from able to meet demand, even though production was increased. More Forum awnings will be produced for the coming season, and demand has already indicated that it would be wise to order early. The Forum awning appeals to campers not only because of its high-quality materials and craftsmanship, but also because of its size, and with its depth of 3.5 metres it is the largest awning on the market. In spite of its size it can also be used as a touring awning, and lay-out-wise it is very flexible. For the larger awnings Isabella has developed ultra lightweight but very strong poles made of carbon fibres. These poles have been named Carbon X, and they are extremely lightweight compared with traditional steel poles. Moreover, Forum is constructed in a very simple way with a traditional frame and two front openings.
The most apparent innovation is the flexible front. It can either be recessed one metre so that the awning is 2.5 metres deep, thus providing a one-metre covered patio area the width of the awning with a large canopy. Or it is possible to recess only half of the front and to create a small patio and bay area by means of a partition that can be placed either to the right or to the left. Last but not least, there are door openings at the front and in the sides.
