An awning for summer and winter
Caravanners are increasingly prolonging the camping season to last all year Interest in larger all-weather awnings has risen considerably as more and more caravanners choose to prolong the camping season to include the winter months. One important reason is that the all-weather awnings are now of such a high quality and so well insulated that they offer a warm and cosy place to be when combined with a solid floor and a heater – even when the temperature outside falls below zero. Isabella, the Danish awnings manufacturer, became aware of the trend as more and more caravanners began to use their all-weather awnings both summer and winter. Previously, all-weather awnings were usually only brought out once autumn came round, and taken down at the end of spring to make way for the large awnings intended for permanent pitching. The result is a general desire for more spacious all-weather awnings, which has been reflected in a significant increase in sales of the company's large Universal All in One 420. Originally, this model was designed as a winter awning with strong Zinox steel poles, a characteristic pitch to the roof that allows snow to slide off easily, sturdy foam pads which ensure the awning fits snugly against the sides of the caravan and highly robust materials in the roof, sides and base. But the many openings in both the front and sides mean that the awning is also eminently suitable for summer use. Each front panel may be independently rolled down to use with the
Veranda pole, or removed completely to create a sun canopy. A zipped ventilation net is found in the centre of the front panel, and the side features extra wide doors. Even though the Universal 420 – and the other, slightly smaller, awnings in the range – is very stable and built to withstand even the toughest weather conditions, we advise the use of our winter securing set during the severest winter months. This is often a requirement as far as insurance cover is concerned. The winter securing set consists of two additional rafter poles and three support poles. The Universal All In One awnings are also available in widths of 360 cm and 300 cm. Shades of blue canvas have been used for these models, while the 420 is available in shades of sky grey.
