In line with the growing interest in camping witnessed over the past few years, winter camping – in wind, snow and freezing temperatures – has begun to attract more and more people who are no longer satisfied with camping during the summer months only. Real winter camping, however, places very different demands on equipment and the way caravanners organise themselves. Fortunately, help is at hand from Isabella, the Danish awnings manufacturer in Vejle. The factory has been developing winter awnings for several decades. All are tested under arctic conditions, and they have amply demonstrated their strength by remaining upright even when weather conditions turn serious. Universal or All - in - One 240 is the name of Isabella’s sturdy and user-friendly awning. The basic model dates back more than 20 years, but it has undergone continuous development in a number of areas, and it is undoubtedly the strongest winter awning available on the market today. The basic frame consists of a pole system featuring robust Zinox galvanized steel poles. The canvas is made of strong, breathable acrylic while the roof and base are made of a durable polyester PVC canvas. Draughts in the Universal awning are a thing of the past. On the latest 240 model, the awning fits snugly against the side of the caravan with the aid of sewn-in foam pads, thus preventing draughts and protecting the caravan side. The foam pads remain firmly in place even in extreme weather by means of the accompanying support pole and double click profiles, which stabilise the awning even further. The pole system design features a highly characteristic pitch to the roof. This feature has two functions: it means the caravan door can be opened easily, and it allows snow and rain to slide off. |
