The Commodore Royal awning from the Danish Isabella factory is extremely useful when travelling around Europe, and it is a firm favourite with many permanent pitch caravanners too. This is probably due to the large space created by the three-metre deep awning, combined with the wide variety of additional equipment that is available, all designed to make life more comfortable for permanent pitch caravanners. The lightweight and easy to assemble CarbonX frame is unanimously accepted in the UK. The Commodore Royal’s popularity may also be due to the fact that it is a tried and tested model. Since appearing on the market in 1999, the Commodore has been designed around the same basic principles, even though improvements have been introduced along the way. The 2008 version has been given a facelift and features many new exciting and practical details. An awning which is in use all year round and exposed to all types of wind and weather will last much longer if it is correctly tensioned at all times. The Isabella factory advises that permanent pitch caravanners can use extra large pegs as well as additional roof poles and support poles. Innovations for 2008 include new, classic full-length zips. This makes easier to remove the front and sides fully for those who want to turn the awning into a sun canopy, or to unzip the sections part way to create veranda style ventilation. The new windows extend as far as the roof ridge, giving the Commodore Royal a stunning modern look. The practical aspects are underlined by the ventilation panels next to the doors in the front, featuring built-in mosquito nets with integral zip closure. There is also a large window with mosquito net and zip closure in the right-hand side, all of which provides optimum ventilation options while keeping unwanted insects at bay. |
