Awning carpets in Isabella design |
||
It is characteristic that design plays an ever increasing part in the purchases that consumers make for their permanent homes, and the same trend applies when caravanners fit out their caravans. This is one of the reasons why Isabella in Vejle has had enormous success with the carpets that are specially designed for its awnings.
For the development of these carpets, Isabella entered into a partnership with the Swedish carpet factory Bolon, which produces carpets in several colour combinations to match Isabella’s models.
The Bolon carpets are specially developed for use in awnings, and they fulfil a number of requirements that ordinary carpets cannot meet. They do not, for instance, absorb moisture – unlike ordinary living room carpets. This reduces the amount of condensation in the awning and makes for a better indoor climate. Moreover, on account of their weight and pliability, the Bolon carpets follow the contours of the soil or grass where the caravan is parked, thereby avoiding any creases that could cause someone to fall.
Another advantage is that in the last part of the production phase, the carpets undergo a special type of heat treatment, making it possible to cut a Bolon carpet without causing it to fray, and the edges do not need to be sealed. This means that it is possible to shape the carpet so it precisely fits the awning. In addition, the special weave allows small grains of sand to pass through the carpet. Bolon carpets are also very easy to clean – they can be swept, rinsed or washed down with a hose.
A good tip is to put an ordinary sheet of plastic underneath the Bolon carpet. It prevents the moisture from the soil from penetrating and protects the carpet from dirt from the ground. These awning carpets can also be used for covered patios and balconies.
