Awning inspired by pictorial artist |

Innovative collaboration between the artist Karen Ozmec and the awning maker Isabella. |

For both artist and company the collaboration has been hugely successfull in terms of both inspiration and results. Peder Odgaard says: - "The development of awnings is forward-looking. The ideas can progress and evolve. What we are working on today may not be part of an awning that is produced for several years. In working with Karen Ozmec we have had many innovative and revolutionary ideas, which definately could be used in practice." For Karen Ozmec it has been an entirely new way of working. - "I am used to working alone, but with this project it was neccessary to co-operate widely, and it has been an exiting task to unite the artistic with the practical". |

The pictorial artist Karen Ozmec and Europe's largest awning maker, Isabella in Denmark have in an unusual co-operation developed a quite special type of awning. Though still only a proto type, it is expected to influence awnings of the future. The proto type, which should be finished this Summer, will be introduced on the world's largest caravan exhibition, Caravan Salon 2002 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The novel co-operation comes from an exciting initiative, which the local art council took in year 2000 to bond the local artists closer to the industry. It was Isabella's technical manager Peder Odgaard, who became aware of the project, and he immediately contacted the pictorial artist Karen Ozmec, who he knew by reputation as a textile designer and tapestry weaver. With a cash support from the local county for the artist, the project was started in close co-operation with Isabella's designer Lene Egly. The project, which has now been running for almost a year, has resulted in a proto type with entirely new patterns, colours and an advanced awning construction. The main objective has been, that the caravanner should have an improved nature experience. Due to business restrictions the details cannot not be revealed before the caravan exhibition later this summer. |
