ReFlex

Groundbreaking awning concept from Isabella

When Danish awning manufacturer Isabella in Vejle presents their 2003 – collection this autumn, look out for a new awning concept.

It is still a prototype, which Isabella will exhibit at some of the autumn/winter shows to see the reaction of caravanners.

The new awning has been called Reflex, and breaks with the traditional idea of an awning in many key areas.

The basic idea is that the construction and appearance have more empathy with nature, and at the same time incorporate a collection of new ideas.

The construction of Reflex is very new. There are only three poles, consisting of a center-pole, which supports the curved cross beam.

The Reflex has a special gutter construction, which is an integral part of the roof and the tensioning system. To lead the water away from the awning the gutter extends over a meter down the guy ropes on both sides.

Reflex is the very latest in awning developments. It is an asymmetrical awning with a large and partly integrated sun-patio.

The ground measurement is smaller than traditional awnings. It can be used in many shapes/forms by

changing the connecting parts. An extra sun canopy can be added, to provide a terrace in front of the caravan.

Among the new features are a gate type opening in the windscreen, and an American style (self-closing) mosquito-door on the front of the awning. Behind the mosquito-door is a traditional zipped awning door.

Reflex is, as explained a prototype, and is currently not in production. However, expect some elements to enter the Isabella program in the future.

The Reflex project has been made in close cooperation with pictorial artist Karen Ozmec who designed the textiles, awning designer Lene Egly, and Design Director Peder Odgaard.
