It is no coincidence that the Danish Isabella factory's Penta model has been the best-selling awning for permanent pitch caravanners in Europe for many years. Few, however, are likely to be aware that much of its success lies in the details – details that would no doubt be invisible to the untrained eye. Together, however, these details combine to make many families feel that the Penta is a comfortable, functional and, not least, highly durable awning.

Behind every detail are years of development, innumerable tests carried out under extreme conditions and, very importantly, feedback from thousands of caravanners.

Take the roof, for instance. At first sight it looks like any other awning roof, but don’t be fooled. It is a heavy polyester canvas with an outer coating that protects against all weather, including strong sunlight. The canvas also features an interwoven PVA material that reduces condensation by distributing it evenly across the entire surface of the roof.

The roof panel, which ensures the light inside the awning is warm and welcoming, is a small masterpiece: it is made using the same material as the rest of the roof, which means that the panel and the roof function identically under different weather conditions, thus preventing folds and unnecessary wear and tear.

If we look at the windows, it is worth noting that the welded-on lattice is not there merely for decorative purposes. It serves to strengthen the Penta’s front and sides and prevents the accumulation of dirt. The same applies to the Penta’s pentagonal design with its angled front sections which contribute to the awning’s eminent stability.

Years of experience have shown that stitching the roof canvas directly onto the underlying canvas material is not ideal – it is a method that results in a great deal of wear and tear, leaks and folds. Isabella has solved this problem by stitching in a special sealing tape between the roof and the side sections. Furthermore, all corners feature heavy-duty three-layer reinforcements with an additional leather flap which ensures the corners cannot be ripped in heavy winds.

The well-known Isabella pegging elastics are coated in polyester to protect them against damaging UV rays.

The ventilation options are another impressive feature. On the Penta, the ventilation panels are fashioned as foil-covered mosquito nets. More ventilation creates the best possible indoor climate, while the mosquito netting keeps annoying insects at bay.

The entrance is extra wide to allow prams and wheelchairs to pass easily. Caravanners who need a porch can purchase the optional door canopy.
