Windbreaks for caravans, motorhomes & vans – light, stable or robust?
Which windbreak should you choose?
A windbreak is a smart and functional solution that provides shelter from the wind, privacy and a safe boundary for children and pets – and matches your Isabella awning perfectly. When choosing a windbreak, the frame is a crucial factor in both stability and weight. CarbonX frames are ideal for touring campers who want low weight and easy handling. Windbreaks with Zinox frames are recommended for seasonal campers in need of greater stability throughout the season. Zinox MegaFrame is the obvious choice for permanent campers who require maximum strength all year round.

What is a windbreak – and why is it indispensable when camping?
A windbreak helps define your campsite – it provides shelter, a sense of privacy and security, and completes the overall look alongside your Isabella awning. Whether you're camping with a caravan, motorhome, van or Camp-let, a windbreak is a simple and effective way to create a protected outdoor space. It shields you from the wind, establishes a private atmosphere and clearly defines your pitch – ideal when camping close to others. It also acts as a practical boundary, making it easier to keep children and pets safe, so you can relax without worries. With matching designs and the same high-quality materials as Isabella awnings, windbreaks are a natural extension of your outdoor setup – both functional and stylish.
Windbreak with CarbonX frame – ideal for touring campers, motorhomes and vans
If you frequently move between campsites and need a lightweight, flexible solution, a windbreak with a CarbonX frame is the perfect choice. CarbonX is a lightweight material that combines strength and flexibility, making it easy to transport and quick to set up. It is especially recommended for touring campers, motorhomes and vans, where mobility and low weight are essential.
The low weight of the CarbonX frame makes it easy to handle, while still providing reliable stability in most weather conditions. It’s an ideal solution for campers who prioritise easy setup and minimal packing without compromising on quality.
Windbreaks with CarbonX frame: Grey series (2-sided, 4-sided and 6-sided), North series (4-sided), Coast series (4-sided), Ventus series (4-sided), Cosy Corner Levo and Windbreak Levo.
Windbreak with Zinox frame – stable and durable for seasonal campers
For seasonal campers who stay in one place for longer periods and need a more robust windbreak, the Zinox frame is a great choice. Zinox is a galvanised tubular steel frame that offers added strength and durability, making it ideal for a more permanent setup.
Although Zinox is slightly heavier than CarbonX, it is still manageable and provides a stronger, more stable structure. It’s suitable for campers who remain on the same pitch throughout the season but still want the option to reposition the windbreak when needed.
Windbreaks with Zinox frame: Granite series (3-sided), Mini windbreak, Flex series (3-sided, extra module and extra module with window), Sun series (3-sided).
Windbreak with Zinox MegaFrame – the ultimate solution for permanent campers
For campers with a permanent pitch who require maximum strength and durability, the Zinox MegaFrame is the most robust option. This frame is engineered to withstand extreme weather, from strong winds to rain and snow, making it ideal for year-round camping.
MegaFrame is the heaviest in the range and is designed specifically for caravans and larger setups, where weight is not a limitation. It’s the perfect solution for creating a fully enclosed, private outdoor space that stays up all year long – without compromising on stability.
Windbreaks with MegaFrame: Mega Granite series (4-sided, 6-sided and gate).
Mini windbreak – perfect for families with children and pets
Mini windbreak is ideal for those looking to create a safe and defined space around their pitch while still enjoying the view. Standing just 67 cm tall, the mini windbreak acts as a natural barrier for toddlers and pets without feeling restrictive. Its low height allows easy access over the top, without the need for a gate – offering flexibility and ease of use.
Mini windbreaks can be combined with standard-height windbreaks for both shelter and visibility. Available in Granite, they match several of Isabella’s standard awnings, creating a coordinated and stylish setup. Choose from the Grey series (2-sided, 4-sided, 6-sided), Granite series (3-sided), Ventus series (4-sided) or Mega Granite series (4-sided and 6-sided).
Isabella windbreak materials – quality and durability
Isabella windbreaks are made to last, using high-quality materials designed to retain colour in sunlight, stay breathable and resist wear. Depending on your needs, you can choose between three fabric options:
Light Isacryl 260 g/m² – A lighter version of the Isacryl fabric used in Isabella awnings. Breathable, durable and colourfast in sunlight, it’s perfect for touring campers looking for a lightweight and flexible windbreak.
Isacryl 295 g/m² – A more robust, breathable fabric also used in our awnings. Isacryl maintains its colour beautifully in sunlight and ensures a pleasant climate behind the windbreak – ideal for seasonal and permanent campers.
IsaLite polyester 195 g/m² – A light and easy-to-clean polyester fabric that resists wind and rain. Ideal for campers who value practicality and low maintenance.
Stabilo system – the solution for soft ground
To ensure your windbreak stays firmly in place, all Isabella windbreaks come with the Stabilo system. This clever solution includes small plates placed under the poles and over the ground spikes, distributing pressure over a larger area. This prevents the poles from sinking into soft or wet ground – a small detail that makes a big difference.
For permanent setups, the Stabilo System Mega is available, developed specifically for the heavy-duty Mega Granite series (4-sided, 6-sided and gate). This version allows multiple MegaFrame windbreaks to be connected, as each plate accommodates two poles. The plates lie flush with the ground, so you can mow the grass over them without removing the spikes – simply detach the windbreak. A special tool is included to drive the spikes into the ground without damaging the spike collars.
